This picture shows me exhibiting African tribal portraits 2007 in Southern Germany. I travel mostly by hitchhiking on overland trips, which is why it has been a bit more difficult for me to visit a lot of the islands listed here on MTP. As a youngster I used to forget everything else while "studying" adventure novels from authors such as Jack London, Alexandre Dumas, Robert Louis Stevenson or Karl May.
I first started trying to get from A to B on my own when I was eleven years old, as the village we lived in was located about two kilometers off the main road home from school, and only about every third bus made that extra loop.
I guess each traveler mostly continues exploring the world in the specific mode he has used while "learning" how to travel, and the way it has worked for him before.
In earlier times I was an ATP world-ranked professional tennis player, but after that period traveling backpacking style for me had the advantage of much more time spent with the often curios local population, as well as discovering the unique sights every destination has to offer.
In October 2016 I published my first book "Traveling - 30 Years Around The Planet", available on Amazon, and these days, when not wandering the globe, I work partly as a tennis coach, partly as a photographer on various contracts.
