I am Chase. I'm a 20-year-old college sophomore majoring in Economics-International Relations at Claremont McKenna College, a small school just outside of L.A.. I split my time between school there and my home in a suburb of Portland, Oregon.
My most recent trip was a five-week backpacking adventure throughout mainland Western and Central Europe in 2008. I visited France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
It's been more than a year since I've been out of the country and I'm getting a little antsy. Thankfully 2010 should hold a number of travel events. I will be studying abroad in Amman, Jordan in the fall of 2010, so I should be able to see Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, and (of course) Jordan during that time. I'm also trying to intern with Grameen bank in Dhaka, Bangladesh for part of the summer (maybe backpacking India during the rest?). There also is a potential trip to Taiwan in the works for March. I should know whether that will happen or not within a week.
Outside of travel, I love watching sports. I'm a big fan of the Seattle Seahawks, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Mariners, Oregon State Beavers, and Portland Timbers. Let me see...I'm a big fan of music of all types. Anything from Tom Petty to George Strait to Ice Cube to Tiesto. I love it all. I also enjoy a great bowl of chicken tortilla soup, or basically anything else that I can eat. Sampling local foods is one of the best parts of traveling, even when you come down with food poisoning the next day (not a fun experience!).
Anything else you want to know about me, just ask. And I'm always looking for advice on where to travel, so don't be afraid to email me!
My Favorite Places:
Paris is my absolute favorite city in the world, although I also love the entire Dalmatian coast. I also love any place that's warm, sunny, and has a nice tropical beach with palm trees.
