I was born to travel. My first train ride was at 2 weeks, back when they had Pullman cars. I picked careers that allowed my travel to continue, flight attendent, wrote incentive programs, conference and meeting planner to food and travel writer. I'm currently on the Board of the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association. My husband and I have a consultanting firm. We both enjoy writing and editing.
I wrote my first two books with long time friend, Brenda Hill-- Our Love Affairs with Food & Travel . It features chefs from 19 countries and 17 states, 90+ chefs and 200+ recipes. For the second one, we teamed up with French Master Chef Herve Laurent to write Cooking Secrets the Why and How...
Brenda and I will have our next book, $uccess, Your Path to a Successful Book out by August 2008. Since we already give many workshops and seminars, we hope this will lead to more on cruise ships and spas.
To me, food, wine, and travel are a geography lesson in cultures of the world. They engergize me and I'm always willing to explore a new territory.
My Favorite Places:
I'm partial to Singapore as it shows how a third world country became world class through capitalism.
Koh Sumai, Thailand is another favorite for total relaxation and wonderful food and people. Plus, the massages on the beach are a bonus.
Weisbaden, Germany is high on my list. The history, culture, food, charm, and wonderful hot springs dating back to the Roman Empire are all worth experiencing.
Sailing Sydney Harbor or sitting on the window ledge looking at the climbers on the bridge, the opera house, and the harbor are breathtaking.
Amsterdam is another city that I love no matter how many times I visit. The Dutch and Indoniesan cultures blend to bring East and West together.
For Canada my favorites would be Quebec City and Vancouver. Each has its own distinct charm. However, Ottawa also charmed me.
In the US there are more charming places than I could begin to name.
There is no one place in the world that is my favorite. I enjoy bits and pieces of all my experiences.
