My parents travelled a lot - which in the 1960s and 1970s was still more of a luxury, and we kids got to travel often with them. That gave me the bug. I got to see much of America when I was in college there and travelled with the debate team. Then I worked in international business for many years which gave me lots of work-related travel (employed by Nokia which had me flying a lot of miles), and now in my 40s, I write books about mobile telecoms and that brings me new opportunties to travel to speak at conferences and provide consulting to my customers literally around the world. I'm originally from Finland, have lived in 9 countries and now am based out of Hong Kong.
My Favorite Places:
Hong Kong (the Peak). Corcovado Mountain Rio de Janeiro and Copacabana beach. Lankawi Island Malaysia. Paris! Hawaii. The coast-line of Alaska and British Columbia Canada. Chilean Andies. Norwegian Fjords. Scotland. Essentially any place where mountains meet the sea. Mount Fuji-San, Tokyo. Manhattan, especially Empire State Building and the Staten Island Ferry and all of Broadway. Capetown. Oh, also the Croatian sea coast and essentially all of Italy - and Sicily. Southern France. Monaco. Barcelona. I like most places actually ha-ha..
