Never travelled during my childhood or teenage years. But as a teenager I lost a bet and had to learn the capitals of all countries to avoid payment. That I did and it started me reading about foreign countries. What followed were penpals all over the world. It took some time then, before I started visiting some of them and travelled a bit. Except for a few short trips back in the 1980ies I did all my trips together with my wife. That's why in my travel reports I always talk of "we" instead of "I". We enjoy exploring different places on our own, only seldom take guided tours. We are used to go anywhere by public transport. Bus, train, tram, marshrutka etc - best opportunity to get in touch with locals!
My Favorite Places:
Sarajevo (Bosnia-Hercegovina), Yerevan (Armenia), Tbilisi (Georgia), Akureyri (Iceland), Belfast (Northern Ireland), Prague (Czech Republic), Berlin (Germany)
