Travel has been in my life forever, planes and maps filled my childhood playroom, and so it would seem my destiny was crafted. I still feel that the journey often outweighs the destination.
I have been fortunate that my job has allowed me to see many parts of the world and through those miles accured my wife and I have been to many other places. We tend to find ourselves returning to SE Asia on a regular basis. We love the friendly people, great food and beautiful beaches. Phuket (especially the northern part of the island which is less crowded) is a favorite. We just returned from India and Malaysia in March and were again not disappointed. We go to Singapore about once a year as it has become a favorite place for us. The cleanliness, safety and endless shopping are a tough combination to beat.
We also spend a lot of time in Peru, where my wife is from. I prefer the jungle side of the country as to the tourist mecca of Cuzco. Macchu Picchu should be on everyones list of Must See's but don't overlook Iquitos and the Peruvian Amazon for an excellent trip. We try to take one large international trip per year and several smaller domestic trips - mostly to college football games (Go Miami Hurricanes), during the year.
We adopted our daughter from Peru when she was 12 and immediately turned her on to the joy of travel. She is now 18 and has over 20 sites visited including 6 weeks in Brazil this past summer. She is determined to study abroad for at least one semester.
My Favorite Places:
International Cities: Singapore, Hong Kong, Phuket, Dubai, St Andrews (Scotland)
Domestic US Cities: Miami, LA, Seattle, Chicago, Charleston
