First of all many thanks to Charles who made this wonderful homepage. And, who is improving it again and again. From the very beginning this was my most visited site.
Unlike many others here, I was not able to travel as a child. My family did not come out of Austria. When I was 18, two friends let me join their holiday to Istria, the first time I saw the sea. The following year was my first trip by myself, 2 weeks on the Canary Islands. With 25 years I reached my first ever traveling goal: the Grand Canyon. In my late twenties I worked on the M.V.Doulos, the floating bookshop. It was on that ship where I got the book \\\"Race for the world\\\", writen by John Todd, who was the first man visiting all countries of the TCC list. By hand I copied the country list from \\\"Race for the world\\\" and started to count for myself. During the 2 years on board the M.V.Doulos I could see 25 countries. With the countries I visited before Doulos I had a total of 50. After Doulos I went to visit Doulos-friends in their homecountries. In 2005 I got married and now we travel as a family. Not so extended as before but trying to visit at least one new country every year.
My Favorite Places:
