Primarily a Europhile, I have a Ph.D. in Geography, and M.A.s in Geography and History. I most often travel by car (and love driving!), though I am now trying to see more by bicycle and boat. I don't usually like public transport, as you are de facto constrained to get off only at major stops -- I like the freedom to explore as the mood takes me.
But why is Switzerland credited with 26 separate places, while Republic of Congo, 57 times bigger, with more than 200 ethnic groups, is considered one? And the entire Middle East is 25? And, all those obscure islands? Anyway, Happy Trails!
