My passions in lifeafter my family are exotic third world travel, travel photography, hiking,fishing and mountain bike riding. I'm a director in the Adventurers Clubof Los Angeles. Over the years my wife and I have traveled to Europe, theMiddle East, Asia and Australia . In recent years we have flown to places like Spain , Alaska , and Nova Scotia then rented a car and justexplore. I introduced my then teenage sons to foreign travel. Itook my oldest son Scott at age 15 to China . I took my youngestRyan at age 18 to South Africa where I rented a car and drove to the various game parks. Two years laterRyan and I did camping safari by truck in Kenya and Tanzania .
My kids tell me that I'm 62 going on 17. I have been to over60 countries around the world and all 7 continents. I do my third worldtravel with buddies from the Adventurers Club of Los Angeles and Jim Kirk(fellow 1963 Gardena classmate). I like to travel and live like the locals of that country. Since 9-11, I have trekked the Himalayas in Nepal and got 1/2 way up Mt. Everest . I havegot to Easter Island , Chile , Argentina ,Antarctica, Borneo , Spain , Morocco , IndoChina and Venezuela .
In 2002 fellow classmate Jim Kirk and I did a road trip allover South Africa then flewto Zimbabwe and white waterrafted the Zambezi river just below Victoria Falls . In 2006 Jim and I spent five weeks in Thailand , Laos , Vietnam and Cambodia . Upcoming in Feb.2008 Jim and I leave for Belize and Guatemala to visit Tikal , do some caving and a canoe trip down the Belize river. We then head for Caye Chaulker to get our scuba (PADI) certificate and do somefly fishing for bone fish and tarpon.
This past 14 months I spend three weeks with my sonRyan in Morocco , and threeweeks in western Canada with my wife Irene. (I was born in Vancouver , Canada ). Thispast May I was in Malaysia Borneo (Sarawak and Sabah ). Malaysia Borneo was amazing. I didn't see another American for amonth. I spend time with the Iban head hunters in their long houses,trekked the actual head hunter trails, climbed Mt. Kinabalu, lived with aMuslim family and dove off world famous Sipidan Island.
