I did not come from a family of travelers, although we did take a few road trips for family vacations in the US. When I was in 6th grade, I was introduced to a man who spoke 7 languages and he taught us a few words in French. And that was it; I was hooked. I knew right then in that moment that I wanted to see the world. I took my first flight at 14 to see family in Seattle and we also went to British Columbia, my first time out of the country. Through high school I took French lessons and at 18, I took my first of many trips to France. It was more than I ever imagined. I fell in love with Paris. I remember crying on the flight home and the man next to me asked if I was French and was sad to be leaving. I responded that I was not French, but it was my home. It will always be my second home. From there I have traveled most of Europe and am now exploring other continents. I enjoy experiencing other cultures, cuisines, landscapes, languages, the history, and the people. I love the adventure whether it be climbing Machu Picchu or white water rafting down the Denali river in Alaska. I appreciate all of the wonderful friendships I have developed with people living in different countries. Traveling has enriched my life more than I could have imagined. My next trips for 2010 include Costa Rica, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. I look forward to seeing all the wonders of the world, every continent, and making new friends along the way.
