I grew up in Ontario, Canada and as soon as possible moved to the sunny clime of California. My passion for travel dictates that I go to all the remote areas of the world first (one of my first trips was to Laddakh and Bhutan) before the world is totally homogenized in terms of culture, customs, and language (also, while I still can do so physically). I figure I can always go to the regular places when I'm old.
I'm a retired university professor. I am currently writing a novel whose main character loves to travel and whose name is Maggie (secretly short for Magellan).
My Favorite Places:
Mount Kailash in Tibet, Saa'na, Bhutan, Karakoram Highway, Banteay Srei in Cambodia, Horseshoe Lake in Ontario, Copan Ruins --- almost everywhere I travel is a favorite in some way
