Growing up in Indiana, USA I mostly saw the world through TV and books. Then when I was 16, I went to the San Francisco area on a choir tour and it changed my life. Standing on the rocks in Santa Cruz overlooking the ocean I knew that I wanted to see the world. I wasn't sure what was out there, but I was ready to find out!
In college, I met Phil and we started traveling together. Each year, we try to go somewhere more interesting and exciting then the last. Eight years later, we are married and we hope to continue traveling for the rest of our lives. I have two continents left and Phil has one. If anyone has any good suggestions for trips to Antarctica, please let me know!
I am a Pilates instructor and Phil is a software consultant.
My Favorite Places:
In 2007 we went to China to see thousands of Macaques playing (mostly) freely on Monkey Island. It's near Sanya, in Hainan. It was my husband's dream come true and I owe it all to the internet. All I had to do was google "monkey" and "vacation" and after about 10 pages, I finally found small bits of info about Monkey Island. We also stayed a few nights in Hong Kong, which was like a futuristic dream. If I had the money to live there comfortably, I would move there in a heartbeat!
In 2005 we went to Brazil. Amazing! We flew into Sao Paolo and stayed for a night, and then drove to Paraty, to a small fishing village called Picinguaba. It rained to whole time, there were a ton of mosquitos, and there was no A/C, but we had a blast! We drank cachaca, ate lula (squid) every night, and met the coolest people from around the world. We also kayaked by ourselves to a secret beach. I felt like we were the only two people in the world. It was magic.
My all time favorite place is San Diego, California. There is nothing like driving in a red convertible with the top down in the most amazing weather in the world! I will live there someday. It's what keeps me going!
