Lesotho Visit: 2007-12
2008-01-10 - What can I say? I was born and bred in Maseru (the capital). I spent this last Christmas there. We crossed over at Maseru Bridge 3 days before Christmas. We had to queue for an hour and a half on the South African side. It was a breeze getting through the Lesotho side - it helps when one's relative works for Customs! After being in Lagos, it was great to breath the fresh mountain air and feel the cool summer rain. The altitude was great for sleeping. Kingsway is still Knigsway. The hustle and bustle of the Bus Stop. My mother-in-law's great peach orchard and her homemade ginger beer. My Mum's Christmas cake and a 1987 Zonnenbloem Pinotage. Not to forget then purchase of the ubiquitous Basotho at Maseru Bridge on the way out.

Next trip I will spend a few days with my good mate Peter Luck (designer of the toughest off-road race after the Dakar) off-road riding in the Maluti & Drakensberg mountains - as soon as he recovers from his hernia!

Swaziland Visit: 2006-4
2008-03-25 - I went to boarding school in Swaziland. Just outside Mbabane, on the way to the Oshoek border, above an area call Sidwashini. The school is situated between the hills of Tom and Kelly. The school's name was Waterford Kamhlaba. Our family holds the record of having the largest number of siblings that attended the school - 7 from 1968 to 1982. I was there from 1973 to 1977.
