Busingen Visit: 2008-6
2009-01-23 - I visited Busingen in June 2008, together with a week end trip to Germany, Austria & Liechtenstein. I have to admit I run into difficulties to reach this village by car! Coming from north side, my GPS shows me 3 different ways, all ending in small field pathways. Finally I had to drive around some more kilometers to find the correct entrance, near the river. I saw a sign stating you're now crossing the Swiss/German border just before entering Busingen village. I spend about 20 minutes there and then drive back to Germany.

Gibraltar Visit: 2006-4
2009-02-01 - During holidays in Marbella in April 2006, I made a quick visit to Gibraltar and Tarifa (in Spain). First, just after crossing the Customs, you have to cross by bus the Gibraltar airfield! Thatís impressive. Then, compare to Spain, you realize bus and cars are driving on the left side, like England! Then, when you finally arrive in the Center, you can start to feel the British atmosphere (architecture, people fashion, famous public phones in red color etc ...).I stayed in Gibraltar only 1 hour as relatives were waiting for me on the Spanish side, but it seems like I have been transported to England during this hour! Really worth the visit if you go in South Spain. I would like to go back and spend more time to explore the city (and reach the peak as well). Tarifa is also a very nice place nearby in Spain.

Hong Kong Visit: 2009-1
2009-01-23 - Since September 2008, Hong Kong is now my second home, as a French Expat living here. So far i really enjoy this wonderful city, It's so easy to get there, simply exit the plane, cross the customs in 20 seconds with the HK ID Card (never get so fast out of customs, all is automatic !), and then, exactly 25 minutes after getting off the plane, you can be in the heart of Central with the Airport Express high speed train ! (add 5 more minutes if you have to wait your luggage)There is really a lot of things to do in HK : Of course the "must" as visiting the Peak, going to the Big Buddha in Lantau Isl, see the skyline with the lightshow or visit the multiples temples all over. You can also enjoy a lot of street markets, or simply spend your all day eating in a huge variety of cuisine. Locals really like eating and it's a very good chance for you if you get to know someone locally that can bring you to the "off tracks" restaurants (those who do not have any single word in English in their menus) ...The MTR (subway) is very clean and efficient, and the concept of the Octopus card, valid not only in the transports (MTR, Boats, Tram etc ...) but also in the convenient stores (7 Eleven etc ..) and multiples others shops & restaurants, is a very good idea. All in all, Hong Kong, even for people used to live in country side like me, is a very pleasant city to visit or live in. Simply spend one day, one week, one month or one year there, and you will not be disappointed!

Llivia Visit: 2007-1
2009-02-01 - I visit Llivia by Car, on the way back from Barcelona to Paris. I first made the mistake to drive France and then I did not found any road or any indications to reach Llivia. The only way I found was to drive back Spain and then take the small and only road that Reach Llivia. I just stay 30minutes there, it was -5įC and I also had to spend the next 8 hours driving to Paris. I found this small village welcoming and the church is worst the visit if you're nearby. I like the whole area that is a flat place surrounded by high mountains, seems like you're well protected at this place. Apart from the church and the old Pharmacy, there are not so many other things to do in Llivia.

Macau Visit: 2009-1
2009-01-23 - I had multiple visits to Macau, and this is an excellent "get away" from the busy Hong Kong life (Iím currently living in HK). Most tourists will come to Macau for Casinos, but I have to admit I never ever spend a single Patacas (the local currency) in gambling there. First, you can spend a complete day to follow the tourist track of the UNESCO sites. I personally like this Portuguese architecture, in the middle of an anarchist Chinese urbanism. Second, you can take a taxi ride to Coloane Island, the one after the Taipa strip (the mirror of Las Vegas strip) and the bunch of newly opened casino. There, you will find a peaceful village and a relaxing atmosphere, remembering how was Macau 50 years ago, before the Casinos investment. I stayed in the small local hotel named "Poussada de Coloane" tastefully decorated with Portuguese style. The food is not too bad, and in general, in Macau, you eat well, especially if you like this mix of Portuguese/Chinese food (the bacalau is delicious). I really recommend Macau for at least a complete day visit to those passing by Hong Kong (getting there from HK is very easy, only 1 hour by speed ferry).

Rodrigues Island Visit: 2003-6
2009-02-01 - I have been in Rodrigues Island in 2003, in combination with a backpacked 3 weeks holiday trip in Mauritius Island. We stayed 1 week in Rodrigues Island and so far, this is still my best ever place I visited in the world! At that time, a small ATR42 plane was commuting from Mauritius to Rodrigues 2 times a day, and the old airport was itself describing the island ... everything there is relax, and peoples are really friendly. Our accommodation was a renting house, in front of the beach, nearby Port Mathurin (the only city in the island). The best way to visit is to rent a scooter (look for the newest possible), and then you can really start to discover this wonderful island and unspoiled beaches. The coral barrier is also well conserved, and snorkeling is a must all around the island. I know since that time, they expand the actual airport to welcome jet planes but I really hope they can limit the tourism at this island; this is the magic of it. Additionally, due to historical reasons, you can still find peoples speaking French (that's not the case anymore in Mauritius island) and most of them are proud to speak in French and help you to find you way (i have to tell that even with the scooter, you can get lost in this tiny island). I recommend this visit to anyone reaching Mauritius island and not looking for a 5 star 'full inclusive' resort.. For the others, they can stay in the overpriced hotels in Mauritius :)

United Nations Headquarters (New York) Visit: 2007-4
2009-01-23 - I visited the UN HQ in April 2007 during one of my holidayís trips in N.Y.C. The guided visit is well organized, maybe a little bit too quick, especially for non English native speakers as we need more time to understand and read all the explanations. We were fortunate to see all the meetings rooms as not conference was planned at that time. The guided visit shows you also all the actions of the UN and its sub divisions (UNESCO etc ...). As amateur Radio operator, my wish would have been to visit the Amateur Radio station, in the upper level of the building, but this was unfortunately not possible at that time. Maybe on my next visit if I'm lucky enough.
